MERCEDES G55 REPAIR: ALTERNATOR & DRIVE BELT REPLACEMENT

The Mercedes G55 AMG is a legendary machine—a boxy icon of raw power. However, even the toughest vehicles require critical upkeep to remain reliable in the Dubai heat. This G55 arrived at our workshop in Dubai Investments Park (DIP) battling charging system issues.

The Challenge: The vehicle was suffering from voltage irregularities, pointing to a failing alternator. Additionally, the drive belt (serpentine belt) showed signs of wear. On a supercharged AMG engine, a slipped or snapped belt results in immediate loss of power steering, cooling, and charging.

The PXR Approach: Our technicians verified the charging output and proceeded with a full alternator replacement, installing a genuine OEM unit to handle the G-Wagon’s heavy electrical load. While the front of the engine was accessible, we performed a preventative belt replacement, swapping the worn rubber for a fresh, heavy-duty belt and inspecting all tensioners to ensure smooth, silent operation.

The Result: Voltage is stable, the supercharged V8 runs smoothly, and the owner can drive with total confidence. Whether on the road or in the desert, reliability is non-negotiable.
